Manifesto Poetico makes theatre where the abstraction of space, spirit of imagination, and essence of the collective are the basis of storytelling and emotional communication. We have developed a way of composing theatre that uses what we called SPATIAL DRAMATURGY.
We seek a constant creation of theatrical languages incorporating artistic and scientific disciplines as well as multi-cultural influences in order to make popular contemporary theatre that brings the language of the streets to the stage. We propose theatre for and with the people.
Manifesto Poetico puts this into practice in its original TransPoetico Productions and in their research and pedagogic work with The Laboratory.
In addition to its two main pillars, Manifesto Poetico also offers workshops and small sessions focused on its extensive research into Contemporary Commedia dell’Arte. Additionally, we provide a therapeutic process called MaskTherapy, available to both artists and non-artists.
In recent years, we have also begun offering Residency Funds at our home base for individuals who have previously worked or studied with us.
Manifesto Poetico comes from the Laboratory’s nearly 25 years of international research and productions with artistic director and founder, Carlos García Estévez. Carlos has performed and directed in over 20 different countries and has been hosted as a pedagogue in over 45 different universities. Over his career he has developed his research into multi-style mis-en-scene, interdisciplinary productions and devised theatre that is contemporary. The success of his work and the enthusiastic response from the audience comes from a reinvention of traditional popular theatre. As he learned from Dario Fo, Carlos keeps the spirit of popular theatre in order to create new contemporary theatrical languages that speak to audiences today.
Manifesto Poetico engage directly with the content that threatens Humanity today. With this research they ask the question: In this global moment, how can poetic theatrical languages move our communities?
Manifesto Poetico is directed by Carlos García Estévez and he is supported by an international Artistic Team and Advisory Board.
