“Live to the rhythm of the heart”

In the mask is the heart of a person, of someone who wants to heal.

From someone who loves or someone who is afraid.

Someone who seeks other worlds to give meaning to the world they are in.

It is in the heart of an animal that walks and runs alongside us.

It is at the heart of a plant that regenerates the earth.

It is at the heart of a community where each individual can establish his or her identity.

It is at the heart of a deep time, of the origin of our existence;

the mask brings all this together with our present.

It is a shot of thunder, a cry, an interrupted silence.

A constant rhythm.

- Carlos García Estévez. March 2024, Madrid

Did you know that you can heal through the power of theatrical mask play, imagination and the spirit of your childhood? You just have to give yourself permission to play!

This MaskTherapy workshop combines the work with masks and the search for the pure state of emotion. We will do it through the analysis of the movement of the human body and the observation of what surrounds us and what is inside us.

The pleasure that is in the eyes of children. And from that perspective they project the creation of reality.

A game to get to know yourself and find your blockages, wounds, false beliefs, traumas... The here and now, and the connection of your intuitive self with the mask, will give access to a path that you will not want to end. A roller coaster that no matter how scared it is... the more you will want to go back on. The pleasure of no control, of imbalance...

The eyes of the soul of all connected human beings

from the spiritual roots of creation itself.

Let the eyes of the mask seduce you

to leave behind the beliefs that no longer serve you!

You just have to throw yourself into your own emptiness.

OPEN SPACE

A moment to share from freedom.

A Open Space to the exchange of experiences will be encouraged. This Open Space between the members of the group will be a fundamental pillar in our journey, both individually and as a group.

The interaction between participants will help us create an atmosphere of security, trust and empathy. We will reflect on each other. We will ask ourselves questions in the eyes of others (through the mask). Feeling, nurturing and providing with our own experience would be a reference of support to others.

“We are most incandescent when there is the beauty of being in connection.”

The work with masks that is proposed has its origin in Carlos García Estévez's more than 25 years of theatrical research on acting with masks and on the tragic depth that exists in comedy.

We know that we are going to die since we are born.
We are aware of our destiny.
We live in a tragic dimension.

The research of all these years is based on the study of popular tradition, physical and scenic movement, socio-cultural studies and artistic experiences on the five continents.

What does it give us?

WORKING WITH THEATRICAL MASKS CAN BE HEALING BECAUSE IT OFFERS A SAFE AND CREATIVE SPACE TO EXPLORE EMOTIONS, RELEASE INHIBITIONS, CONNECT WITH DEEP ASPECTS OF THE HUMAN BEING AND PROMOTE SELF-AWARENESS AND EMPATHY.

Connection with archetypes and symbolism

MASKS ARE OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH ARCHETYPES AND SYMBOLISM THAT CAN RESONATE DEEPLY IN THE HUMAN UNCONSCIOUS. WORKING WITH THESE ARCHETYPICAL IMAGES CAN HELP PEOPLE BETTER UNDERSTAND THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES AND INTERNAL PROCESSES.

Exploration of emotions

Theatrical masks allow actors and those who work with them to explore and express a wide range of emotions intensely and without restrictions. This can help people connect with their own emotions in a deeper and more liberating way, which can have therapeutic effects.

Psychological distancing

Wearing a mask can provide a degree of psychological distancing that allows people to explore difficult topics or trauma without feeling completely exposed or vulnerable. This distancing can make the process safer and more manageable.

Freedom of expression

By hiding identity behind a mask, people can feel freer to explore different aspects of themselves without the fear of judgment or inhibition. This can allow for a more authentic and unfiltered self-exploration process.

Empathy and understanding

Working with masks can also foster empathy and understanding towards others, allowing people to experience different perspectives and points of view in a visceral and personal way.

On this journey, Manifesto Poetico, with the help of experienced therapists, aims to seek the mis en movement of the healing element that exists between your true self and the world around you.

ABOUT MANIFESTO POETICO

Manifesto Poetico makes theatre where the abstraction of space, spirit of imagination, and essence of the collective are the basis of storytelling and emotional communication. We have developed a way of composing theatre that uses what we called SPATIAL DRAMATURGY.

We seek a constant creation of theatrical languages incorporating artistic and scientific disciplines as well as multi-cultural influences in order to make popular contemporary theatre that brings the language of the streets to the stage. We propose theatre for and with the people. [more]
