NEW YORK LANDS
In 2016, Carlos García Estévez and Wagner College Theatre will collaborate to create New York Lands, a devised play where the actors will be the authors of their own show.
Workshop
From 4-13 January 2016, a dozen Wagner students will be with Carlos in Amsterdam to study different approaches to devised theatre, based on research done by Manifesto Poetico Laboratory. Also participating in the workshop will be Pascale Lecoq, director of School of Jacques Lecoq and the Laboratory of Movement Study (LEM) in Paris.
Production
Immediately following the workshop in Amsterdam, Wagner College Theatre will produce New York Lands, an original play based on the students’ own research and training. Auditions will be held on 19-21 January, with opening night on 1 March 2016. Research into the fabric of New York City, (its people, stories, architecture, history, etc.) will provide the content of this world premier production.
