World Social Forum - Montreal '16

Next week I will be going to the World Social Forum in Montreal, Canada with Paige Allerton for research and development of our project The Poetics of Survival.

The World Social Forum is an open meeting place for reflective thinking, democratic debate of ideas, formulation of proposals, free exchange of experiences and interlinking for effective action. This forum is for “Groups and movements of civil society that are opposed to neoliberalism and to domination of the world by capital and any form of imperialism, and are committed to building a planetary society directed towards fruitful relationships among Humankind and between it and the Earth.”

As theatre researchers and activists we are going to the forum to have a direct overview of the discussions being had today about a reformed, more equitable, sustainable and respectful world.

I believe in a constant development of society. We aim to mirror this development with stories where society can recognize itself; including all races, social classes, ages, genders, religions, sexual orientations, national origins, and abilities.
